  1. isaiahbruckhaus Diesel was tried here in the 1970s for autos. GM and VW had several diesel models. The problem is that states charge more per gallon for diesel than regular octane unleaded gasoline, mostly as fuel taxes, not so in places like Germany, where diesel and regular unleaded are the same price per liter.

  2. isaiahbruckhaus The fuel tax goes to repair roads. Since diesel-powered semis do the most damage, they pay higher taxes for diesel fuel than gasoline users. My state has dyed diesel for off-road users at a much lower price, but heaven help someone using dyed diesel on road who gets caught.
