@System0Error0Message Dude. The United States has the best engineers in the world. They do not use "off the shelf plastic." They INVENT plastics that are the most specific to the job parameters.
2
@System0Error0Message How do you know it really was ABS? ABS is a good plastic. If ABS is the right plastic for the job, they can use ABS. That is like saying, "steel was mentioned."
2
@System0Error0Message It has nothing to do with price and warranties. Plastics are used in cars to reduce weight.

I prefer power windows because you can pull up next to a person walking on the sidewalk and put the window down and ask directions. But I guess if you are married, you are good. 😅

I am already happy. Can I keep my stuff?

In the seventies, you could buy clear plastic valve covers so that you could see the valve train operating while your engine was running. You could also get clear plastic carburetor bowls and watch your gasoline inside that carburetor.

@JayRides-ul9uf Your dad's oil pan was not properly painted.
1
@djserg4346 They make a couple of kinds of replacement oil plugs that can fix that.

@System0Error0Message Your original complaint was about American car-makers using low-quality plastics. That blue car in the video is a Mercedes Benz. They are not American. They are made in Germany.
1
@System0Error0Message You just spent 10 minutes explaining the difference between metal and plastic to a professional auto mechanic. Good job. 👏
1
@System0Error0Message Your original complaint was about American car-makers using the WRONG TYPE of plastic -- your comment was not about metal.

@System0Error0Message This discussion has nothing at all to do with car warranties. Plastics are used because they reduce the weight of the car.

All of those lightweight plastic parts save you money on gas and you can use your savings to buy more lightweight plastic parts. 😅

Get some acrylic silicone caulk at the hardware store and run it all around the outside of your gaskets. They will not leak.

I am a shareholder, and speaking as a shareholder, when profits get tight, I want them to raise their prices, and that is what they usually do. You are speaking from ignorance and cynicism. Ignorance and cynicism is not beneficial to society.

@jamesduggan5846 You obviously know nothing about economics and are speaking only from your emotions. You are calling everyone else "greedy" except yourself. What do you know about "cashing out" stocks? Nothing. So let me explain something for you: When I hold my stocks, I make money. The INSTANT that I sell, I cease to make money. There is no way to "cash out." And it has nothing at all to do with "consumer's backs." A profitable company creates jobs and keeps consumers working. A bankrupt company puts consumers out of work.

@jamesduggan5846 Indexes do not reflect anything about a corporation's profit. They go up when more people are buying stocks, and they go down when more people are selling stocks. All of the corporations in the index could theoretically be losing money while index could be going up. It would be nice if you knew anything at all before speaking about it.

I would just go get a flashlight at the hardware store . . .

@troberson5501 Not sure someone laughing at me is a good reason to spend fifty thousand dollars . . .
1
@troberson5501 I would buy a Mustang or Camaro at $30,000. But I do not have a family.
