@nastatchia NO it is not "their land." When the settlers came here, this was a completely abandoned land with only about 16 million inhabitants on the whole continent. The rest of the continent was barren and empty. No one controlled it. No one owned it. Currently, the Native Americans live on reserved land that is provided for them by the United States government. They have 58 million acres of their own land, and the United States government gives them $5 billion dollars a year for spending money. They do not want to move off of their reservations. They do not want more land. They do not want to join society. They are satisfied with their situation, and they do not want you rocking the boat. The Native Americans have representatives in Congress, and if they have something to say, they can say it. They want you to leave them alone and go mind your own business.

This is the point: If our leaders decided to defend South Vietnam from attack and with the same move stop the spread of communism, does it make any difference if you stop the spread of communism using volunteers or using conscripts? Am I missing something?

@dunkelheit5055 I am American, so this is how I see it: A government that is run by the people is legitimate. A government that is not run by the people is illegitimate. Whether they have corruption or not is not the issue. We are all improving. A democratic government with corruption beats out any totalitarian government. I consider your pointing out corruption in South Vietnamese politics to be a vague and vain stretch.

@dunkelheit5055 Of course GDP translates into quality of life. Why did you say that, knowing it is wrong? If you do not want to use GDP, consider GDP per capita (which is higher than yours). Or the low unemployment rate of 3.5%. Or the low inflation rate of 2.47%. Or the size of our houses at 2300 square feet. What do you want to use?

According to communist theory, the theory of evolution dictates that when society evolves, communist revolutions will take place in every country in the world, and all capitalists will be destroyed and the working class will own everything. The United States is the most capitalist country ever, and that theory is a direct threat to America. It was not about communism spreading into Asia. It was about communism spreading into the Americas. And yes, the wars in Vietnam, Korea, Laos and Cambodia did stop it. And it is an arch-evil cartoon character.

Give me the exact number of South Vietnamese soldiers who joined the Viet Cong and prove it from a source. THEN . . . explain why those soldiers were fighting with the South Vietnamese army in the first place if they hated that government. @dunkelheit5055 There was a line through America in 1865. We had two countries and two governments. There was the northern union and there was the southern confederate union. There were two governments, and we had major philosophical differences. The South wanted to have slaves. The North outlawed slavery. Each was loyal to its own government, but had animosity against the other group. Your example does not wash. It proves the opposite of the point you are making.
