  2. The United States has an old law on the books saying that we cannot sell our military equipment. Therefore, in order to get around that law, we do what is called a "lend/lease." We give them the equipment for free, with a contract that says they are leasing it. But if they do not have the money to pay the lease, we do not try to collect from them -- it becomes a loan. Technically, they are supposed to return the equipment to us when the war is over. But as a practical matter, we never go pick it up. I have a longer comment on this board.   4. EU is not forcing a ceasefire for 2 reasons: 1. They believe that as a sovereign nation that is Zelenky's decision to make. 2. A ceasefire would mean giving Putin Donbas. If they give Putin Donbas, later he will come back for all of Ukraine. Then Moldova. Then Bulgaria. Then Poland. Then Germany . . .
