The word sabbath means rest and most Christians use Sunday as their 1 in 7 day of rest.

Dude. The ten commandments do not apply to Christians -- they only apply to Jews. He cannot be "violating" some other faith's law.

@wcsxwcsx Well the Bible says specifically that the ten commandments can be completely disregarded. In fact, Jesus said that. But by the things that we do in our personal lives, we observe the "spirit of the law." This is the higher spiritual way that Jesus taught. That we no longer need the written law because God has written His laws upon our hearts (and we actually now exceed the previous law in a number of important ways). The old testament law can be referred to as a learning guide. But Christians should be exceeding it because laws are an elementary thing. For example: The Jews were so spiritually backward that they actually needed a written law saying, "Honor thy father and mother." But Christians need no such law because the Spirit of God and Love indwells them and they automatically know to do this without needing a law. They could literally write that law.

The fact is . . If every nurse in the world refused to work on Sunday and use the day to honor God, no one in the world would ever again get sick on Sunday. And there would be no accidents of any kind on Sundays. 😎👍🇺🇸 ✝️

Sabbath is Hebrew for rest. Any day of rest is a sabbath day and you can call so.

@XDSDDLord Okay. Except for your final point. The sabbath is the seventh day. It does not necessarily have to be on Saturday. For example, if I started a new job on Thursday and worked for 6 days, my personal sabbath should be on Wednesday because God worked for six days and rested on the seventh. However, I understand that thousands of years ago, the Jews all started on the same day are all in sync and consider a specific day of the week to be their sabbath (proper noun). But I am not Jewish myself and I do not observe that custom. So I have to deal with God directly and follow the pattern that God set as an example for me.

@XDSDDLord The Bible does not say that God rested on any certain day of the week. In fact, many Bible scholars believe that for God, each "day" lasted multiple millions of years. So theoretically, He may have been working for 12 billion years and then rested for 2 billion years. God time is not like human time. In Genesis no day names are given and no one really knows which day of the week God rested. Only that it was the seventh day. The first time days of the week enter into the discussion is in Exodus chapter 16 when God sent manna from Heaven. At that time the Jews started observing the sabbath for the first time and all Jews observed it on the same day of the week. And to this day, no one knows what day of the week God rested.

@XDSDDLord I am not sure that Jesus worked . . .

@XDSDDLord His dad was a carpenter. I think he mostly just went around talking to people (he started that at age 12).

@XDSDDLord Jesus was the most unconventional man who ever lived. Anyone who knew that He was sent from God and came with a mission to the world would have supported Him (Joseph & Mary).

Jesus was crucified on a Thursday.
1
@oliviaharlfinger882 Oh they do? Can you share me a single verse in the Bible containing the word Friday?
1
@oliviaharlfinger882 It says that Jesus was crucified on the "preparation day" which is the day preceding the High Passover Sabbath. Jewish holidays are on a lunar calendar and the Passover Sabbath is a floating day that changes every year as it follows the moon cycles. That particular year, the Passover Sabbath fell on a Friday. Jesus was crucified on the "preparation day" for the Sabbath -- which would be a Thursday.
1
@oliviaharlfinger882 No. I am saying that you are a smartass who has absolutely no idea what Christianity is about and you need to go repent of your smartass attitude and meet the real Jesus who would never in a million years have made the kind of smartass comment that you just made.

Two-thirds of the tax money that the government collects in this country is Christian money. So you can either apply your faithless money to an area that works for your faith or you can leave the country because you are not an American anyway. 🤷♂️🤷♀️

No problem. 🤷♂️ We can do that. 🤷♀️ "Now on the FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight." Acts chapter 20
