The Lowe's credit card is run by Synchrony Bank. It has nothing to do with Lowe's.

Lowe's' problem is that when you go in there, they have no employees to assist. You cannot run a business that way. All of your customers will go to the competition.

@billspooks Obviously. If you go into the grocery store and buy a bag of potato chips and the potato chips are bad, I presume that you blame the grocery store because "as a customer, you see no difference."

@billspooks Changing banks is a lot more complicated than you describe. But all of the other banks have similar credit policies as you describe. So there would not really be much point in changing. If you want them to change, pick out the bank you like and write to Lowe's.

@bunsguns8222 The incentive for Lowe's is that when a person has any store card, they tend to be a consistent customer of that store, boosting sales.

@Steve_Edberg What people should do depends on their situation, and each situation is different. I bought my refrigerator on my Lowe's card. Are you really suggesting that I do without a refrigerator for a year while I save up $800 because I could not pay it off in one the first month?? 🤔 I believe that having the refrigerator saves me on grocery costs besides being very, very convenient. The interest until it is paid off will be about $300. That makes the whole cost of the refrigerator $1072. So what? I needed it.
