Speak for your own country. We want guns on our streets. It is not possible to "take guns off the streets" anyway. Criminals are on the streets more than anyone and they know where to get guns. We Americans have guns to defend ourselves, our family, and our country -- self-defense is a God-given right. So we have guns. Now what do you Cannucks plan to do when Russia and China jointly invade your country and you have no guns? Cower in the basement like the Ukrainians? How "safe" will you feel then? You know someone could break into your room and murder you with a pillow . . . right?

@h1r086 Of course. The problem is that I chat with people from all over the world and for many of them English is a second language. So they do not use proper grammar, punctuation, and capitalization . . . leaving me guessing.

The way I see it, George is part of the system and you are part of the system and all men are created equal -- so that puts you on equal footing with him. ************** A young boy caught a tiny bird and held it within his hand. You are last in place in logic. You can point a gun at someone and say, "Drop it." And they will. But if you point a bag of cocaine at someone and say, "Drop it." Good luck with that. There is no comparison. Independent citizens killing others is called "self-defense" or "defense of others" and self-defense is held to be a substantive, God-given, unalienable right. And it is a reasonable assumption that if the Constitution enumerates a right to keep and bear arms, the authors fully intended that they would be used. Do you buy a car just to not drive it?

@MrChainsawAardvark You are still failing in logic. We are not discussing cars that no longer run or would not be practical on modern highways. There are over 300 million cars in the United States. What percentage were manufactured and bought just to not drive them? The answer is ZERO. People who own collector cars drive them on Sunday afternoons and to car shows. Even the very tiny handfull of cars in museums were driven for many years before the museum bought them. There are also antique guns that museums buy to not use. But that does not have anything to do with the discussion does it? Do you buy a microwave oven to not use it? Do you buy a refrigerator to not use it? Do you buy a cellphone to not use it? We buy things with the thought in mind of using them. You might buy a butcher knife to carve meat. But if someone breaks into your home and tries to kill you, you will figure out quick how to use it (and you will be glad you bought it). And you are ENTITLED to use the butcher knife. Honestly . . . you are waayy too stupid to be talking to people.

@MrChainsawAardvark The Declaration of Independence is the very first legal document produced by the United States of America and it clearly says that our rights are bestowed upon us by God. So that makes God "material" to any legal or political discussion about rights in the United States. There are no "secular options" regarding rights in the United States and those God-given rights cannot be abridged. And so what if you "go to trial"?? You will be found innocent on grounds of self-defense.

@MrChainsawAardvark On the contrary: The Declaration of Independence is United States law, it does have "legal standing," in court and it does "contain a list of principles for running a government." It also states what all Americans believe to be true: We (Americans) hold these TRUTHS to be self-evident . . . The Declaration of Independence states that all Americans believe that rights are bestowed upon us by God -- that would be all rights that are rights -- every last right -- no exceptions. All rights come from God. The Declaration does not discuss or recognize various deities. It says we believe in one and only one diety whom it refers to as "the Creator." And we know who the Creator in the Declaration of Independence is because the colonies were 99% Christian at the time the document was written -- we do not have to guess. "Lethal force" is covered in the second amendment where the founding fathers say gun ownership is a RIGHT and talks about militias. Militias always use lethal force.

@MrChainsawAardvark It does not specify which sect. You should stop talking to people until you learn something about something. Yes the colonies were 99% Christian. So what if there were a couple of deists? That would not change the percentages. And Christianity was taught to all of the slaves. And your statement that "not even 90% of the people who signed the Declaration were" is just plain stupid. Two of them were even Christian ministers. And speaking of Thomas Jefferson . . . Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. He is more responsible for this idea that our rights descend from THE CREATOR than anyone else. Deists believe in the same God that Christians believe in and they also believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Now as far as these modern atheists, hindus, and sikhs . . . The Declaration of Independence states that they are NOT Americans. So we do not need to consider them or their opinions. And we are not talking about "Christian law." Where did you get that? We are talking about United States law and anybody with one foot inside the border of the United States is "beholden" to it. And what do you mean saying "last time I checked"?? You did not check or know anything about Christianity or Christian beliefs and doctrine. In fact, it would be a good idea for you to do that and stop spouting things you do not know.

@MrChainsawAardvark The personal beliefs of the signatories are immaterial. Just like politicians of today, they are not there to represent their own personal beliefs. They are there to represent the wishes of their constituents.
