@andrewmole745 You are getting the Pilgrims crisscrossed with the Puritans. The Pilgrims were a single congregation of about 50 people who left the Netherlands because the society there was too liberal and tolerant of vices. The Puritans were about 40,000 who later came in waves in order to flee persecution in England of various kinds.

The Big Bang Theory and the Theory of Evolution are unproven scientific theories. Why would you think an unproven theory is legitimate science that people should believe and follow? And you are literally "scared" when people do not believe your unproven non-science. 🤷‍♀️ WOW! 🤷‍♂️

Boy, that is a weird comment. 1. The government is not allowed to make a law regarding religious favoritism. If the government closed businesses on Sunday, would that be fair to the Jews or the Seventh Day Advent church? Muslims who meet on Friday morning? We do have some Sunday closings. But I will let someone else explain it. 2. We have 3 nationally sanctioned religious holidays: Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. But technically speaking the Constitution does not allow that because it is religious favoritism. 3. A church tax is forced giving. The Bible is clear that giving must be voluntary and come from the heart. Also, that is unconstitutional because it is religious favoritism. Is the government also going to tax, Hindus, Jews, Buddhists, and atheists? What the churches do is not really the government's business to get involved in unless you are living in a theocracy. And even then, you would have to outlaw every dissent among citizens to make it work. The giver decides how much to give and to whom. For years, my giving has gone to churches in Mexico, Africa, and Iran. I do not give anything to my local church. Wow. And your statement that "capitalism is America's religion" is just plain hate and blasphemy.

@thyme3605 They would close on Sunday because Sunday is the Lord's Day and all true Christians observe the Lord's Day. True Christians do not observe ANY Jewish feast days or any Jewish sacrifices or the Jewish circumcision or any of the Law of Moses. And no. He has no interest in your misguided Seventh Day cult theories. He does not even know what you are referring to (and does not care).

The difference between the United States and Germany is Americans do not need the government to wipe our ass for us like the Germans do. The fact is that most of the businesses in the United States are closed on Sunday in order to give their employees the time the need to worship God. This is done on a voluntarily basis by the business because Americans are thinking adults who can make decisions on their own without government interference. On the other hand, Germans are little children who need their government to order them to close their businesses and wipe their ass for them.

@andrewmole745 I am not going to go into the whole religion in the UK. But I will tell you that at one time, there was a king who wanted to get a divorce and the Pope refused to grant it. The king responded to that by nationalizing all of the Catholic churches and declaring himself the head of the church. You cannot say that having the king close down your church is not a persecution. (and there is a whole more to the story. Religious persecution in England is a very long and complex story.)

You are NEVER "forced" to pay in any American church. Your OFFERING to GOD is entirely voluntary. The little envelopes are provided as a convenience because charitable contributions are tax deductible and your church keeps a record of your contributions and gives you a receipt at the end of the year to deduct it from your taxes. Most churches do not have them. It just depends on whether the particular church sees a need for them or not.
