Taiwan is a democratic republic and does not like communism. Obviously, since Taiwan is its own country, they have no desire to unite with China. Why would they do that?

Taiwan is an independent country with no affiliation whatsoever with China. It "would be like" China visiting Cuba. We could care less if they did. I am not "looking for a strategy." There is no "strategy" and there is no "conspiracy." We do not have an "empire" with "aims and goals." We are not trying to "encircle" anyone. We already have "the strongest navy in the world." And our Declaration of Independence declares that "all men are created equal." It is a code we live by. We do not "give people the feeling of being equal" -- they ARE equal. Ukraine has nothing to do with this discussion. Russia attacked Ukraine claiming they need to "denazify" Ukraine. We did not tell them to do that. Your understanding of the modern world in general is very poor. These are the facts: Russia made themselves an enemy of the world when they held a communist revolution. They have never recovered from doing that. China made themselves an enemy of the world when they held a communist revolution. They have never recovered from doing that. Both countries realize that they are guilty and both countries are overreacting and responding aggressively because they know they are guilty and have inferiority complexes. They think someone is "out to get them". (And apparently, you do too.) No one is out to get them. The modern world is not about empire building. The modern world is about communists, terrorists, and totalitarians, trying to take over and rule the world and take away everyone's freedoms. It is not about democratic countries trying to "encircle" people. It is freedom and democracy vs. the communists. When you get that, you will start understanding how things are. Your mistake here is you think we are Machiavelli. We are not Machiavelli. We are Americans. Our "strategy" is simple and straightforward: Taiwan is a free independent democratic country and the entire United States military aims to see that it stays a free independent democratic country. 😎👍🇺🇸 ✝️

She has a top-level security clearance. She is the top lawmaker in the House of Representatives. It is her job to make United States law. She knows what she is doing.

  57.  @ralphbernhard1757  LOL. Officially, in 1979 President Jimmy Carter signed an agreement with the PRC called The Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations. It is a very simple one-page document. At the top it says that the United States recognizes the People's Republic of China as the one true government of China. In the middle it says the no country will try to be a hegemony. At the bottom it says that the United States acknowledges the one-china principle, that there is only one China and that Taiwan is a part of China. It is a communique -- not a treaty and as such, is not legally binding. But the PRC insists that we honor it. However, officially the United States claims that the Taiwan issue has never been fully settled and it is not clear who has sovereignty over Taiwan. We "acknowledge" that Taiwan is a part of One China. But we do not "recognize" PRC as being sovereign over Taiwan because the original government from before the communist revolution (The Republic of China) is still running the whole show over there. So the PRC cannot possibly be in charge of Taiwan. So the official United States position is that the Taiwan issue is not settled. That is our official position on the issue -- vague ambiguity. Why?
