But NATO turned down their application, and told Ukraine to settle all of the important issues within their country first. Then at an unspecified future date, Ukraine could submit a new application. The possibility that Ukraine MIGHT join NATO 20 years from now is not a justification to invade Ukraine today. What you should be focusing on is not rumors, but why did Putin say he invaded Ukraine. Putin said that his reason for the invasion was that Ukraine was thoroughly overrun by neo-NAZIs, and it was incumbent upon Russia to go into Ukraine and eliminate all of the neo-NAZIs in Ukraine. Think about that.

Afghanistan: We won in 3 months, and setup a democracy that lasted for 20 years. Libya: We bombed a dictator's forces, which enabled the democratic forces on the ground to win and set up democratic elections. Iraq: We won in Iraq and set up a democratic government with elections. We did not "lose" in any of your examples and your examples are not even similar to each other. Now, getting out of your fantasy imagination, and back to Ukraine: The war is not lost, and no war is lost until one side surrenders. So stop claiming fake news.

The terms that Russia put forth were the same terms that Russia stated that they were going to war for in the first place, and every offer that Russia has put forth has included that Russia gets everything they want with no compromises on Russia's part. They are: 1. Russia gets to keep all of the Ukranian land that they stole. 2. Ukraine has to promise never to join NATO. 3. Ukraine has to give all of their weapons to Russia. 4. Ukraine (defenseless) has to name Russia to be their protectorate. You know very well that any country in the world would fight to the death before agreeing to a complete surrender of their country and their sovereignty. So do not go around asking people why Zelensky did not just surrender the country to save lives. You are making yourself look foolish and ridiculous. Zelensky is defending Ukraine from a vicious attack and takeover from a hostile invader, and it is his job to do that. He is doing his job. The blood of all dead on both sides is on the hands on Putin the invader. Stop trying to transfer it to Zelensky the defender. That is propaganda, and propaganda is lying. Yes he could have immediately ended the WAR, but so could Putin.

That is not "losing." We did not lose in Afghanistan. We won the war in Afghanistan in 3 months. The war was over in 2001. AFTER THE WAR, we spent 20 years in Afghanistan rebuilding the bridges, hospitals, schools, banking system, elections and so on. At the end of 20 years of rebuilding Afghanistan, President Trump decided that it was time to stop and come home. Then during our withdrawal from the country, the Taliban came down from their mountain hideouts and took over where we had pulled out. The scene at the airport has nothing to do with who won or lost. We did not "lose." And you trying to think you can learn history from a few images shown on television is quite immature. We did not lose in Libya. Your supposed "progressive leader" was not building the schools and hospitals that he claimed. He and his extended family were stealing millions of dollars from the government treasury. And there was a housing shortage because he did not build the housing he had promised, and a popular rebellion against him started due to not building the housing, and his own citizens started a war with his government and drove them out of the city. We gave the citizens a hand in their revolution by doing some limited bombing. But we were not fighting in Libya, and we did not lose. The dictator lost, and the citizens won. Who actually killed Gadaffi is up for debate. But he is obviously in Hell now for his crimes against the Libyan people. So it doesn't matter. The map shows that the Ukrainian side controls 85% of the land. No one "loses" until one side controls 100%.
