@Joyce-ow1ks The United States manufactures 85% of its own consumer goods. The things we import are things that lend themselves to being relatively easy to manufacture and ship. That would be items, such as clothes, toys, power tools, electronic goods, such as stereos, televisions, microwave ovens and computers.
About two-thirds of our imports come from countries other than China, and particularly, a clothing factory is easy to set up in any country. That leaves around 5% of our consumer goods coming from China.
Our importers have cancelled most of their orders from Chinese factories because they are too chincy to pay the tariffs. So as the supply chain dries up, we can expect shortages in things like toys and consumer electronics. Americans will have plenty of money but will not be able to buy a new computer because there will not be any available. The ones that are available will double in price.
