  35. @hkfoo3333  Sorry, Lady, but YOU have no idea what you are talking about. 1. China has already looked into selling these goods to other countries. There is no market for them as the other countries are already buying Chinese goods and cannot take any more. Further, those other countries have no money and can only pay one tenth of what Americans pay. 2. They cannot buffer the goods through other countries because the president is closing the loopholes. He just slapped Vietnam with 46% tariffs for doing that. Now Vietnam is in trouble. 3. No our store shelves will not be empty because many of the goods we buy, such as purses and panties are discretionary purchases that could wait for years. You have no idea about America. The closet of an American woman has 100 dresses in it, and 50 pairs of shoes. She could go the rest of her life without buying more outer clothes. Besides that, the United States is the number two world manufacturer. We manufacture a lot here, and there are other countries to buy from, such as Canada, Mexico, Germany, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and Korea. Then we can always build more factories or those countries can build more factories. And if that is not enough, we always have the option of paying the 245% tariff, which Americans can easily afford to do. 4. The United States is the world’s largest producer of corn, the second-larget producer of soybean, the third-largest producer of wheat, the fifth-largest producer of potatoes, the tenth-largest producer of sugarcane, the twelfth-largest producer of rice. About one-third of what we grow goes to China, and there is no alternative source for that much food. Besides that, if the Chinese do not sell us their manufactured goods, they will have no money to buy food. No, American shelves will not be bare. But Chinese shelves will. We will bury them.
