  9.  @hddh5917 it’s was severe in Brazil too and the main reason the culture is so strong is because the constant population replacement which means work the slave to death than replace with new slaves because it was cheaper because they had colonial outposts on the coast of west and central Africa, they treated there slaves very poorly and it was severe because sugar cane cutting and milling is way more Dangerous than harvesting cotton and tobacco

And Brazil imported way more Africans as you know. My whole point is that slavery wasn’t more severe in the USA but post abolition period was well post reconstruction period and this is the main difference usa almost had it right early on during reconstruction period but poor whites were threatened by the success of free blacks and that’s the biggest difference the poor whites who compete with all classes of blacks you see the USA has more poor whites who were and some still are threatened of black success, but after 1965 things for black Americans have improved but stagnated for black Brazilian especially for those that believe in the myth of a racial democracy

I personally don’t believe one is better than the other I think they are equally flawed
