@LegalRealityy come back to reality and only the tribes in the eastern woodlands called it turtle island that’s in the very cold north including parts of Canada I doubt dark skinned people are indigenous to that area

The gola tribe is where that name originated from just look at their food and culture none of it is Angola except a few words like the word for turtle and okra but if you look at Brazil or the palenque in Colombia it’s full of Angola culture and kimbundo and kikikongo words

@kaskieseven2944 40 percent is less than half the remaining 60 percent is the majority and 90 percent of the surviving influence is West African from the words and grammar in Gullah language to basket making techniques to redred rice which descends from Senegal and Nigerian jollof to the storytelling that’s all west Africa there is no berimbau no semba influenced dancing traditions none of the food ways or religious influence from Angola that are evident in Colombia particularly the Cartagena region especially San basilo de palenque and the south east of Brazil and even the northeast which was heavily influenced by Benin and Nigerian tribes

@kaskieseven2944 Angola was not a rice growing culture area so the Gullah region in particular had less of a need for slaves from that area and let’s not forget all the slaves that came from Barbados and the Bahamas

@Idris-jp9yd exactly west African came to USA the majority anyway that’s why there is very little of Angola culture besides a few Bantu words
