Pinching yourself to stop feeling another pain! You forgot to mention the stupid human trick where if a dentist is drilling on your mouth if you pinch yourself hard enough your brain will focus almost entirely on the pinch and you’ll almost be entirely unable to feel the drilling! Not exactly sure how this works except I assume that it’s in the brain itself. I find it very useful in that I can substitute a pain that I can control (the pinch) for a pain that I cannot control (The drilling) and that I’m probably more afraid of. When I’m at the dentist, I focus on the pinch which I can start and stop whenever I want and can move around instead of focusing on the drilling which I really have no control over.
