You overlook one extremely important thing that Elon Musk can do in the mythical department of government efficiency, and that is it will provide him a perch from which he can threaten regulators in the rest of government to rule in his favor or to overlook obvious problems with what he is doing. For example, Elon Musk will be able to use the department of governmental efficiency to silence regulators who might point out obvious flaws, and Shortcomings in his full self driving software, which is vital for Tesla‘s success, and which really hasn’t been tested in any independent way yet. If Elon Musk can silence governmental critics of his full self driving software, which doesn’t really work than his $250 million investment in Donald Trump and the Republican party of idiots will have been well worth it.
