If modern guns are going to be regulated with laws prior to 1865, why aren’t modern explosives, including nuclear regulated like explosives were regulated prior to 1865?

@MrScissor90 Well, given that argument, why are there any regulations whatsoever today about the ownership and use of black powder? I doubt sincerely that there were any laws regulating the ownership and use of black powder prior to 1865.

If we are going to regulate guns with laws prior to 1865, why aren’t we regulating cars and trucks and trains and planes? The way we regulated them prior to 1865? I don’t think people had to have licenses to drive wagons prior to 1865? Why do we have to do that today?

@MrScissor90 If the Supreme Court says that the laws that we use to regulate guns have to be only those that existed prior to 1865, why not prohibit the sale of guns that were invented after 1865? Something tells me that if AR 15s existed prior to 1865, there probably would’ve been some additional, stringent laws passed regulating them that weren’t passed because they hadn’t been invented. The upside of outlawing guns invented after 1865 would be that they probably would be far fewer mass shootings since trying to conduct a mass shooting with a muzzleloading musket would take a hell of a long time!

If the Supreme Court says that gun control laws cannot be different from what was existing prior to 1865, why is it legal to sell guns to American citizens for private use that were invented after 1865. I don’t think you would see a lot of mass shootings if people had to reload muskets!
