Perhaps you give Hitler and Trump much too much credit. Was Hitler really so persuasive that he could hypnotize Germany into committing unspeakable horrors or was it the case that Germans after the defeat in World War I and the discouragement of the great depression yearning with all of their hearts for someone to tell them a big lie that they could believe in and thus ease their pain with? Is Trump so persuasive that he was able through force of Will to turn the Republican party into a cult or are there many forces in our society like Fox News that are always looking for someone whose big lies will allow Fox News to gain great power by telling and retelling them no matter what the consequences? Chicken or egg?
