DeepSeek MAY have stolen IP, but one thing they DID DO is demonstrate that the elbow for the curve of "AI Computing Cost vs. Capability" can be reached with a very modest investment ($6 million) and that the US AI companies have been spending billions of dollars to climb the very, very steep part of the "AI Computing Cost vs Capability" curve WITHOUT achieving much in the way of significant new AI capabilities. I'm sure all of the US AI companies will claim that they are about to reach a new plateau of AI capability with just a few more hundreds of billions of dollars of investment when, in fact, the AI "Computing Cost vs. Capability" curve may NOT be an "S" curve at all, but a pure exponential growth curve from here on out as long as they keep using the current algorithms. Fortunately for the US Ai companies, there is an investment sucker with money born every second and, in all probability, they will keep attracting huge investments in what may turn out to the biggest SCAM in history.
