@Ass_of_Amalek I agree, that starting a war may not be a totally rational thing for Xi Jinping to do, but I have no doubt whatsoever that he would not hesitate to sacrifice tens of millions of Chinese lives to protect his personal position.

@rodgerhempfing2921 Maybe, but you should go back and read the history of the American Civil War and the German general staff in World War II. Sometimes it takes a long time for good generals to rise to the top, way too long.

@nightshadehelis9821 As far as “scorching the earth“, I think a good case can be made that chairman Mao “scorched the earth“ with the red guard movement that he started in the 1960s in China. His control was slipping so he mobilized young people to destroy adults who were questioning his authority.
