  3. Question: why no sockets for the CPU and the memory? CPUs and memory are constantly getting improved. Why no sockets to take a vantage of this?

  4. ExplainingComputers disagree. With the new announcement that Amazon will be offering arm-based AWS servers, arm -based computers are going to become a lot more prevalent and standardized then they currently are for general purpose usage. Single board computers should take advantage of that.

  5. Apple M1 as a third way? Apple has come up with a way to translate X 86 binaries into something that can run acceptably fast on and ARM processor. It seems to me that if the community can duplicate this kind of on the fly translation, then single board computers based on ARM could continue to be built on low-cost chips instead of X 86, yet vastly increase the software that they can run. Why not? The future that you suggest is one where single board computers remain relatively compartmentalized with an in adequate amount of software and support.

  6. @Tano good point. I hope this continues, because if translation can be done of the x86 programs so that they run on other architecture’s like ARM or risk five, then I think the future will be A lot brighter!.
