Ed, do you have Vladimir Putin‘s address? I’d like to write him a thank you note for motivating the Europeans to spend more on their military. I think it would only be the right thing to do to let Vladimir know how grateful we are.

The miscalculations on all sides leading up to this war remind me very strongly (and frighten me very much) of the miscalculation that led up to WW1.

This cannot be correct!!! You’re telling me that something bad in the world happened that wasn’t the fault of President Joe Biden??? Fox News has assured me that everything bad in the world is the fault of President Joe Biden, so you must be wrong!!!

Firebombing of Tokyo? Firebombing of other Japanese cities? Long before the atom bomb got dropped, American bombing of Japanese cities had killed hundreds of thousands. In the case of Tokyo, 150,000 died in a single night from a single raid. Sure, The bomber did not always get through and in Europe at least the bomber was not as accurate as was predicted. But they were definitely times when the bomber did get through and did kill thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands. All without nuclear weapons.

Ed is a BRIT?!? That means - as an American - I’m obliged to go back and disbelieve everything I’ve heard Ed say!

Follow the money!!! How much is it costing Russia to keep all these troops on the border with Ukraine? How much did it cost them to drag all these troops from all over Russia to the border with Ukraine? How much more would it cost them if they invaded the Ukraine and then had to have troops occupying it for eight years? Can Russia in any way shape or form of Ford to do this?

@PhilosophyForTheMops You might be right but those factors were true back in the 80s but didn't work in Afghanistan and part of the reason the Soviet Union collapsed was because of a lack of money.

Afghanistan? I am an American and the only time I can recall hearing the word “Afghan“ used was to describe the nice wool blankets that my grandmother would knit for the family. Did they really name an entire country in honor of her blankets?

The West is standing tall against Putin and will fight to the very last Ukrainian! All hail Western values and low gas prices.

Drones as terrorist weapons! Girls can be used by very unsophisticated users as terrorist weapons against against civilian targets. Imagine what 100 small drones with an aggregate weight of about 1000 pounds could do against a crowded civilian event like a football game or an outdoor concert or a demonstration. The drones could be carried did a single pick up truck within 10 or 15 km of the target, launched by a small team of people maybe a few was too, and then completely left on their own to fly to the target by themselves and cause mass casualties. Drones might be countered on the battlefield eventually, but the counter measures against drones cannot be made available everywhere within countries behind the front lines. Nor can drones be outlawed or secured or controlled because they have to use expensive airports.

What’s the significance? I’ll tell you what the significance is, there is going to be a severe run on signs reading “the parts falling off of this tank are of the highest quality, British manufacture“!

@ProvidenceNL I hope you are right. I fear you aren't.
