  1. It’s not the government, it’s the car in the street. Look at the long track record the car industry has had in fighting every safety innovation or consumer centric innovation. For that matter, it’s not just the car industry. Look at how much money the fossil fuel industries have and are spending to try and downplay the effects of global warming due to man-made climate change. It’s not the government. Entrenched interests are always going to manipulate whatever they can to try and fend off new competition.
