Congratulations! You have won! Elon is in that very first stage of falling when it looks like he’s standing still, and before the acceleration kicks in relentlessly. Unfortunately, for you, most of your time for the next few years will be taken up giving interviews to people writing books about the decline and fall of Elon, SpaceX, Tesla, NeuroLink, the boring company, etc. In that regard, Eli will have the last laugh.

Whatever happened to the poor deluded fuzzy, thinking, German and Japanese couple who used to make really stupid videos about how great Elon was? I really think someone should follow up on them and find out what their lives are like now.

Another book idea: a book about the army of Elon stock promoters. Who hired them, who paid them, how much did they make, did they know they were lying when they were telling Tesla or SpaceX, how did they become disillusioned, when did they quit and why. This would be a good companion book to the book called “number go up“ about crypto currencies. Obviously this book cannot really be completed until Tesla has gone bankrupt and SpaceX has been exposed as little more than a scam, but it would also be a good time to start lining up people to interview.

Actually, as I think of it, I think a really great book idea would be something that could be titled “profiles in Elon disillusionment“. The book would consist of vignettes of different people who were really really convinced at first that Elon was indeed going to save the world and the document how they became disillusioned to the point that they now hate Elon. I’m certain it would be easy to find people who invested heavily in The various Elon myths, and as a result lost all of their money. It may be a little bit early to write this book because Tesla has not crumbled into dust quite yet and SpaceX still looks like they might develop a working starship so I’m beginning to doubt it more and more. However, certainly it would be a good point now to identify the people who were so heavily invested in Tesla and SpaceX and line them up for interviews the day that the Elon illusion evaporates.

Gwen Shotwell‘s memoirs, I really look forward to them! Despite the quotes that you show here, I don’t think Gwen Shotwell is a complete and utter idiot so I look forward to hearing her experience of working for Elon Musk at SpaceX. I’m sure there was a phase where she suspended her disbelief, but I’m also certain that her memoirs will document how she became increasingly disillusioned and then certain that Elon is a complete and utter idiot. I hope Gwen is smart enough not to be taking Tesla or SpaceX equity as her pay.
