Major missing chunk of electric vehicle, export analysis! The Chinese may be indeed exporting a lot of electric vehicles to places, like Thailand, and other countries in Southeast Asia, but isn’t this going to be severely limited by the fact that they don’t have very robust electric utilities? Sure, a relatively small number of electric vehicles can be exported to these countries but pretty soon, the lack of a good electric grid is going to severely limit exports beyond a relatively small number. Without a good charging net work, electric vehicles are as useful and mobile as a pet rock.

@tonysu8860 This is not a question of technology. The point is that electric grids in SE Asia and the availability of cheap electric power from natural gas, oil, renewables, or nuclear power is very limited now and will require huge investments to expand. Given that reality, electric power to recharge EV batteries is a fundamental limitation for the sale of EVs in SE Asia now and well into the future. Reporting on the "huge growth" in EV sales from China into SE Asia with the implication that this growth will continue without mentioning these limitations and the fact that future sales are likely to drop as a result is carelessness.

Tony, are you sure that your evacuation plan in the event of the CCP launching a war in Taiwan is ready to go and will be effective? Since you hold yourself out as an “expert“ on the CCP, I doubt if your audience will have much sympathy for you if you Fail to escape the CCP when war comes.

@hanfucolorful9656 The CCP certainly brought electricity to Ecuador - in the form of a dam with thousands and thousands of cracks that might collapse shortly. All hail the wise and loving leadership of Xi Jinpeng and the CCP!

@didiermontagnier6114 Very good point! And because of this mess of cables, I serious doubt that EV sales in these countries is going very far. Another poiint that Tony comment on is the price at which these Chinese EVs are being sold in these countries. I would think that the Chinese are selling below their costs in order to get rid of extra inventory or to grab market share. If they are selling below costs for whatever reason, that is certainly NOT sustainable and NOT something you want to grow!!!
