Question about Taiwan: given that China seems set on eventually invading Taiwan, do you see any indications that the Taiwanese economy and especially its high tech component are being “hollowed out“ or moved overseas? Right now, the Taiwanese semiconductor Industry is of a major importance to the US and western Europe. Given this fact, I would think that the United States and Western Europe would be very interested in trying to lessen their dependence on the Taiwan semiconductor industry.

Great video! Two questions: first, how are personal bankruptcies handled in China? Second, how are foreclosures handled in China? Given the deteriorating economic conditions in China and the deteriorating conditions in the housing market, how these things are handled, bankruptcies and foreclosures, could have a major impact on China’s economy especially on the banking sector.

@alainw77 Wow! Given the number of people losing jobs who also have mortgage debt, the real estate crisis could permanently destroy their lives in addition to wiping out much of their life savings.

@alainw77 No matter how much the Chinese people may like playing musical chairs, eventually the music stops and when it does if you are left out in the cold you freeze to death. (Sorry about the mixed metaphors.) If a lot of real estate goes way down in value, I would think a lot of people will see their mortgages underwater and if they have lost their jobs as well I doubt very sincerely that they will want to keep paying.
