I'm very afraid that if Bernie were somehow able to break the Democratic party machine and get elected the Republicans and establishment Democrats would shut his administration down and he'd end up this generations equivalent of Jimmy Carter complete with a crisis with Iran in his second or third year that the military or intelligence agencies will screw up, so he only serves one term. With a heartbroken and drained liberal wing, the pro-corporate, neo liberals will run someone irrelevant and the country swings back even further to the right under president Rock in order to fight the Resource Wars which, like the planet, should also be getting even hotter around the middle the next decade.

@SamWeltzin Having what at least at one time was called the Bully Pulpit is absolutely the tool of the office that would serve him best. And with the right support staff and the urgency about the coming Extinction Level Event (et al.) maybe a sanders presidency could circumvent the gridlocked congressional system and through careful yet broad use of Executive Orders help build the local networks and start the projects that we need to start. Hopefully, he won't be stymied at every turn by the judges Trumps administration has put in place - one of the other great tragedies of this administration and a challenge for any democrat who wins next. The military, especially at the pentagon and in the more politicized upper ranks, might be part of the problem for a Sanders presidency. Although we might see an interesting divide in support between younger enlisted service personnel and older officers making a tricky dynamic. Regardless, I'd love to see Bernie and Tulsi as the ticket that takes over next. It would be a trip and one I'd live to go on. Here's to it!
