  2.  @deltauniformtangocharlieho2795  There are also many young people who are typically liberal that couldn't wait to move away from the intolerance they grew up with in conservative states. They mostly came to the Front Range because of that part of the states more progressive political climate (particularly the legalized marijuana and acceptance of LGBT people), the great job opportunities in Denver and up and down the front range, and the year-round outdoor recreational activities and natural beauty in Colorado. The 65+ age group of people who moved here from both the west and east coast made lots of money during the 80's, 90's and 2000's and could afford the housing prices, driving up property values along the way. And the less wealthy 20 to 40 year old people are more willing and able to have roommates to help defray housing expenses in order to live here.
