@izzimichaels2892 It's most likely that their will be injuries and possibly even deaths of both donkeys and wolves. It's an interesting choice because the donkeys can do what the rancher can't by physically attacking the wolves. Caring for and managing a domesticated herd of animals can be a pretty brutal thing. The only reason the rancher has a problem with the wolves is because he can't kill them (and of course, because he is trying to raise cattle there or at all, but those are different subjects). He can kill other non-protected predators that go after his herd like mountain lions and bears but not the wolves. And personally I think that's good because we need predators to help keep the wilderness healthy and wolves also help keep the number of other predators down. At least the donkeys can defend themselves not like those poor fainting goats that seize up and fall over when attacked.

There are several breeds of working dogs that are more than capable of killing a wolf. Maybe the donkeys were a less expensive option.

@chrismorgan283 Funny you assume I only mean using one dog. I was thinking more along the idea of using a pack of dogs, the same way this rancher has several of the donkeys guarding his herd. I wouldn't want to rely on any single animal to try to guard against a pack of predators unless that single animal has opposable thumbs and a rifle with a high capacity magazine.
