  1. Calling what Hamas did "negative blowback" is disgusting and comes much to close to justifying the brutal slaughter and kidnapping of Israeli civilians. The only thing for me that is unequivocal is that the killing of women and children is wrong. It's wrong when the IDF or Israeli settlers do it, it's wrong when Hamas or other Islamic militants and terrorists do it, and it's wrong when a Chicago-area landlord does it to his tenants, killing a 6 year-old little boy by stabbing him 26 times and seriously wounding the child's mother because they are Muslim. Just about anything else happening in the Middle East, and especially between Israel and it's neighbors, has too much historical baggage and nuance to be unequivocal.

  2.  @WanderingExistence  I generally agree with what you have written and don't even necessarily disagree with at least parts of the Denver DSA statement that were reported in this story. I've even written similar things about the attack by Hamas ten days ago and what has been happening in Gaza, but I'm just an idiot spouting off online - not an official organization making a statement about what happened or why. I'll add that the idea that Netanyahu ordering Israeli forces to bomb Gaza and probably invade in force will serve to accomplish anything except helping to create the next generation of people who want to see Israel destroyed is very Cheney-esque circa 2002. But then, Netanyahu seems to have ignored the intelligence warning about the October 7 attack which also sounds uncannily familiar to the Bush/Cheney era choice to ignore warnings from intelligence officials pre-9/11. Gotta love conservative hubris - NOT! It was good conversing with you civilly . Be well.
