I'm not autistic but I also don't hold a lot of mainstream ideas or live in a typical fashion, so I can relate and have experienced what you are saying about people bullying you because you are different. For me, I feel like it's almost easier sometimes to be maliciously bullied by someone who is just a jerk than well-intentioned people who think they are helping.

There are horror stories much worse coming out of various African conflicts as well as Shia on Sunni violence in Iraq and the ever ongoing Muslim-on-Muslim violence in Afghanistan, Syria and elsewhere.

It's being accentuated in Afghanistan at the moment, but it's neither a unique nor a new tragedy and is one of our greatest ongoing flaws as a species.

  41. After the attack by Hamas on October 7, they'd probably understand why their descendants are retaliating against Hamas. But they'd still have sympathy for the Palestinian civilians caught in the carnage. Israelis are by and large a decent people unlike Hamas who bear the blame for what is happening in Gaza.

The Taliban never did a good job at ruling and running Afghanistan. But no one ever does a good job at that. Afghanistan is called the Graveyard of Empire's for a reason.

We are both condemning any and all the powerful leaders whose choices bring suffering, exploitation, starvation, and death to the powerless and especially to the children of the world. Neither of us are arguing that the US solved the ancient and cultural problems that go on in Afghanistan any more than they did while occupying Iraq. But if you are arguing that the Taliban or other leaders in Afghanistan don't also cause terrible and needless suffering to the children of their own country then you are not being honest and there isn't any point in trying to talk with you further. Have a good one.

But the fact that he'd already attacked at least one of the people who he killed this time must make the survivors of this nightmare justifiably furious with the authorities. Especially hearing he's been wanted for months along with so many others. That he was just one many is such a bad excuse. Heartbreaking, infuriating, unsurprising.
