If the IDF cared about the Palestinians as little as Hamas does the death toll could be well over a hundred thousand by now. 2.2 million people packed into an area the size of Gaza makes waging the kind of war the Israelis are fighting very costly to civilians who wont leave the battlefield. It's not like the Palestinians are not being warned to evacuate but they won't, or Hamas won't let them, so the death toll is much higher than if they would. It is like when people are warned of a flood or hurricane coming but wont evacuate - people who don't leave die. Hamas should have spent some of that diverted aid money and other resources building shelters for the civilians instead of tunnels for their fighters. But again we see how little regard they have for the Palestinian people.
