  1. Loved the Orwell shout-out. I suspect a universal basic income is where we are going to have to go unless we want things to completely tear apart. There are only so many opportunities in a Capitalist society, and if you don't get selected for one you are pretty much screwed on many levels. It doesn't matter why the opportunity went to someone else and there are a lot of reasons why it happens - it's not just about being the best person. Unless you are one of the lucky chosen few, you have to try and find your own way and meaning in this life and do so with a minimum of resources. Good luck.
