  1. These are the signs and symptoms of a more serious condition, not the condition itself. These problems can all be solved, but like with health care, there's more money to be made managing the problems than addressing the cause of what's wrong in the US and how we got here. It's predatory late-stage capitalism and an ever-increasing wealth inequality that are the primary root causes of it all. Unfortunately we may have let it metastasize far enough that the prognosis may very well be fatal.
