I think a lot of people would have preferred the documents case happen first, but between Judge Cannon and the Supreme court Trumps judges have made that impossible. So we have the only case that went forward. Seems like it might be best to not let judges a president appoints hear a case involving said president. I know there have been other judges he appointed that have ruled against him, but on general principle it doesn't seem like a good idea.
