We've been moving forward an awful lot these past few centuries regarding technology and knowledge, but when it comes to the ways we treat each other it seems like we mostly go in circles, repeating the same old mistakes. Even when the class system changes we continued to adopt the problems of dominance hierarchies. I don't know what it's going take to stop that (other than proof of there being extraterrestrials, and even then I don't know if that would do more than add another seat at the table) but sadly I don't see it happening any time soon. Sure wish it would, though. It would be a lot easier if we could all just get along and play nice with each other.

Trump isn't smashing Biden.

When there's someone like Trump on ballot who is getting as much support as he does then I agree with that. But when it's two more traditional politicians, choosing to sit out an election isn't the end of the world. After all, oligarchs, plutocrats and corporations are running the country - not the politicians.

@shonaphilp9321 Absolutely! I'd love a legitimate "abstain" or "none of the above" option on my ballots.

UT Austin kicked ass! And going back to get an associates degree from my local community college here in Denver a coupe of decades later let me get into my current career that has actually ended being my most successful and profitable.

Thank you for your comment! The buffet analogy was silly. Choosing to not vote is very different from going hungry. I don't choose to not vote very often, but it can be very satisfying to give the two parties of our political system the middle finger and just get on with life.

That only happens from people with poor critical thinking skills.

It was a terrible analogy. Eating food and voting aren't even remotely the same thing. If I don't eat long enough I die, but if I don't vote it's just another day in the life.

Division and the animosity that comes from believing that another group who looks or thinks differently than themselves is a condition that stretches back through the ages and apparently even to a time before we were the winning group of hominids. It certainly isn't anything new.
