  2. Joe Biden failed utterly during that debate. He let himself down and let all the voters down with that abysmal performance. There's no getting around that fact. But I keep seeing people defending CNN and the moderators for not fact checking Trumps near-continuous stream of misinformation, twisting of facts, and outright lies during the debate because of the argument that it's up to the other candidate to do that. The problem with that position is that if one or both of the candidate are not doing that fact checking for whatever reason, then it falls on the moderators to step in and call out the lies and misinformation being spread by the candidates and correct the record as much as possible. Otherwise the debate devolves into a back and forth of meaningless noise and sophistry that does a disservice to the voting public who are watching. It's not like CNN doesn't have a whole staff of people with Internet access who can do the research in real time and quickly provide feedback to the moderators about what the candidates are saying.
