  1. I know it's probably unpopular but Sam is right. The problem of gun violence is not the same problem as mass casualty massacres or suicides with a firearm. All are problems that need solutions but each problem needs its own solutions. There's no single answer for all of it.

While I don't think that making the private ownership of ammunition prohibitively expensive is part of the solution (apparently I needed to specify that earlier) I do want to give credit to Mr Wood for pointing out at 59:30 that Chris Rock presented the idea as part of his comedy special in 1999 "Bigger and Blacker" - it was only $5,000 a bullet but it's still a funny bit.
