  1. Thank you and everyone else. It's good to get another perspective (or several) about the Canadian system. One thing to point out as someone who works in healthcare in the U.S. is that way too many people end up in the Emergency Department because often the wait time to see a doctor at their office can take from several weeks to over a month. Depending on the doctors office, sometimes people can go and wait all day hoping to get squeezed in if there is a cancellation, but for most people I know that isn't a reasonable option unless they aren't working or can get the day off from work. And if I'm not mistaken, under the NHS in the United Kingdom people visiting from out of country can receive treatment under the same pay rules as UK citizens. That may have changed or been modified in recent years though. Thanks again everyone!
