  2.  @stuckonthe405  You aren't paying attention - we haven't been a Republic for a while now. Sure, they use the old words to make it seem like we have a functioning political system, but one has to be turning a blind eye to what's going on to think we're still a Republic.

  3. "They" say a lot of things to keep people fooled into thinking we have a functioning political system. Oligarchy is the word - or with the current administration Banana Republic might be even more appropriate. Whatever it is, it's definitely an Empire and one that is in decline. I'm just waiting for someone to light a match and start playing the fiddle.
