For an advanced species they sure do crash a lot.

Now do one about Burn Pits. Governments and militaries everywhere do some dastardly deeds to their own troops and civilian populations.

Pretty much everything about Chernobyl freaks me out.
175
That island where Terrible Tilly is sounds Lovecraftian. And Varosha sounds like it would be a perfect place for people doing post-apocalypse movies and videos.
172
When in doubt, blame Russia or the CIA.
93
"6 Psychic Soldiers, UFOs, and a Ouija Board" sounds like the start of either a really good story or a very silly joke.
71
In Russia, Czarist treasure buries you!

I wondered for a long time if we could use some strains of mycelium as building materials, fuel sources, or other renewable resources. Very cool to see all the people who told me I was nuts or weird proved wrong. What's weird is life itself.
34
If they're concerned about mass or weight or such things then wouldn't an all little person crew be the best choice? And if it's going to Mars the ship could appropriately be named the Red Dwarf. 🎶It's cold outside, there's no kind of atmosphere🎶

"Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range." "Hey, just what you see, pal!"
27
These puns are going to make me have a meltdown.
22
I know I'm a weirdo who is in the minority about this but I kind of like it. I think it's interesting to see how new tech is used when it comes along. For me, I don't feel like the audio content of the stories from Dark 5 is suffering. And like you said, the images sure have made the videos creepier.
22
"OH GOD, NOOOOOOO!" if you know you know.
16
I never saw any of the pre-narration videos other long-time viewers talk about so maybe I don't know what I was missing but these are great!

“If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans.” --Stephen Hawking

and billionaires. The "elite" always try to save themselves at the expense of everyone else.
10
I wouldn't want to be stuck in any cave. They're cool to explore, but being stuck in one would be terrifying!

The first one - sometimes a 19th century hammer is just a 19th century hammer. Nothing all that dark or mysterious about it. (or any of the others. The one that turned out to be a spark plug gave me a good laugh.)
10
That first story - should have included a more context about the way the Apache and other tribal people were treated by the US military and settlers to help understand why they responded the way the did. White captives were treated much better in many cases than the other way around.
10
The whole Dulce Base story and idea is one of my favorite bits of UFO lore.
9
@Pixiiex That's a weirdly aggressive bit of abuse.
9
Scary the lengths some people will go to maintain the status quo.
9
“There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” Hamlet
9
He was young enough that he was made a part of the tribe. Life was hard for all the Apache with the way they were treated by US forces and settlers.
8
As a student of US Western history there were more than a few statements and descriptions in this that didn't sit well with me.
7
 @savatete4161 Definitely the aliens.
7
@niagarawarrior9623 and robots ... lots of robots.
7
"Some have suggested that the US govt may even be responsible. Certain subreddits and forums where discussions of this possibility were being had have since been taken down and banned." Well, that's not suspicious at all./s
7
Funny how the "experts" keep getting proven wrong about things.
6
Nobody is making you watch. If some AI images make you that upset you should probably stick with podcasts.
6
It was a really good one. I get why you left the intro off - thanks for the explanation.

Yeesh! The future is here and it's got frickin laser beams!
5
I've known people who argue "I can't see how that would be possible" when arguing against something theoretical and I just think to myself how that's self-evidently obvious. The pride some take in putting their lack of imagination on public display is an odd thing.
5
Ignore the people whining about using AI imagery - You're real fans are here for the story.
5
The 747-AAC was a wild idea!
5
I've always thought there could have been individuals or groups of people that reached parts of the eastern and/or western Americas at a various times -- even more so when ocean levels were lower during the last ice age.
5
Nothing mysterious about the first three. That's oligarchical Capitalism for you, baby! "Free? FREE? What are you, some kind of Communist? Other than as an abstract idealistic concept, we don't do free around here".
5
"Lizzid Peeple built the moon!" --Hecklefish
5
You'd be fine as long as you had a volleyball.

“You’re desthpicable!”

Resistance is NOT futile!
4
Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!
4
All praise Moloch - HAIL THE MOLOCHSTER!
4
@rtyrsson "You're no fun anymore". --Monty Python (which is all the more appropriate to this video as that episode is the one where invaders from another galaxy turn Englishmen into Scotsmen.)
4
If you say so. I don't think the use of some AI generated images makes the stories any worse, and for me it's the stories that make the channel superb. That hasn't changed.
4
$$$$$ is the cause of much of the blindness and stupidity in the world. There's also an element of immediate gratification and expediency that plays a role.
4
Part of the reason is that a comet or asteroid is not already in a stable orbit around the Earth, meaning it has a higher potential to be effected by Earth's gravity when it passes close by, while the orbiting debris is already balanced by the Earth's gravitational pull and maintains its stable path around the planet. There are other factors at play as well like the comparative mass of the objects, distances, etc. - celestial mechanics are complicated.
4
Always love a good Art Bell story. I really wonder what was happening with that one. There are so many crazy stories about interdimensional aliens and conspiracies and cover ups that I just don't know what to think about it all. It sure does fraking freak me out though.
3
I've got a few more problems than that one. Seems like there was a bit of a bias against him in this video. Lazar is a polarizing figure, though, so not a huge surprise.
3
The American West was and continues to be a wild place.
