@joseanfigueroa8785 Regarding the Spanish in the America's first - After the initial atrocities committed by Columbus and other explorers and conquistadors, the Spanish crown authorized the practice, called the encomienda system. Instead of being a grant of land, the encomienda was a grant of people. Typically, an encomienda included an entire village, up to several hundred men, women, and children. Their Spanish masters could force them to mine gold, cultivate crops, or carry goods like beasts of burden. The masters were supposed to pay the Indians, but the law only obligated them to give Indians minimal clothing and food rations. During the first decades of the Spanish occupation of the New World, hundreds of thousands of native peoples died. Some perished from starvation, others from diseases brought from the Old World, and some were simply worked to death. And until Spain abandoned the Americas there were always incidents like the massacre at Acoma Pueblo in what is now New Mexico. It was a punitive expedition by Spanish conquistadors at Acoma Pueblo in January 1599 that resulted in the deaths of around 500 Acoma men killed in a three-day battle, along with 300 women and children. Of the remaining Acoma who survived the attack, many were sentenced to 20-year enslavement and 24 suffered amputations. The massacre was the result of a battle between Spanish colonizers and Native Americans in retaliation for the killing of 12 Spanish soldiers by the Acoma in the previous year.
As for people minimizing and whatabouting the Spanish Inquisition. You sound like Turks trying to obfuscate the Armenian genocide, White Nationalists denying, deflecting, or minimizing the Holocaust, and people everywhere trying to justify the role of their ancestors in their nations list of historical atrocities. Making it sound like only some 4000 people being murdered isn't that big of a deal is a dead giveaway. And that revised number is correct it doesn't even begin to account for all people crippled or who had their lives destroyed for some stupid reason like religious intolerance or the church/crown wanting their property and/or resources. Go ahead, tell us how Franco wasn't such a bad guy and really tell us who you are.
