  1. I loved Gore Vidal, but I suspect plenty question it. There is just so much social programming that is so damned effective that many people are able to use that old willing suspension of disbelief and buy into the various controlling narratives much the same way people may question their faith in God but never doubt in Gods presence or the glory that await them in the afterlife. Also, let's not forget that there are plenty of people on all sides of the issue that fully recognize the inequality, and without question or moral consideration prosper off of it in any of many awful ways.

  2. Like you, I think of myself as pretty far to the left but not about everything and not unconditionally. It's been easier for me once I realized this makes me the dreaded centrist that no one likes to have around for very long. That's cool - I like my own company. For whatever reason(s) it doesn't seem like many the people who have captured the national attention and are the most vocal in all the online forums are able to hold two opposing thoughts in their minds or apply nuance too much of any subject. People try to make things black and white but it's almost all shades of grey. Absolutes are rare. The funniest part - none of this is new. It's just a cycle that keeps repeating itself over and over; a pendulum that swings back and forth. Regardless of whether its Barrie, BSG, or Armageddon "All of this has happened before, and it will all happen again". Listen to the old song Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire and see how much of a song from 1965 is still going on in our world today. The one line that is stuck in my head lately is "Hate your next door neighbor but don't forget to say grace". It's not the times that are strange, my friend, it's the people.

  4. How is it anti-semitic to point out that a nation and it's leaders are doing wrong? Not talking about the individual mass of citizens of the country just it's crappy leaders and the national policy they are setting.
