Saying that we "collectively decided we want this guy back" is kind of stretching what happened. It was less that people wanted him back and more that they were angry at the Democrats for not doing enough to fight inflation and how they ran the campaign. The way much of the media was normalizing what Trump was saying and doing didn't help either. At the end of the campaign, the worst of us turned out in greater numbers than those of us who understood what a menace he is. And the people who didn't vote in 2024 but did in 2020 put last nail in the coffin.

It's one of those rare times when I don't disagree with Trump. He won due to a variety of reasons, but the high prices of things, especially groceries, was a central part of the reason why. And those prices would have been high regardless of who was in office. If it had been Republicans they would have faced the same backlash from voters about those high prices. Kamala never had a chance with the general perception of how things were going and with the way the media supported Trump's message that everything was terrible and that it was the Democrats fault.
