  2. When it comes to Gaza I'm reminded of the song from 2020 "Biden Sucks, Vote Biden". I'm usually tempted to not vote too, but in the end I feel like it's still better to do it than not. If nothing else it helps justify complaining about politics and politicians. And Biden has gotten a lot of really good things done during his term - more than I expected from him. If we can get a majority in both the House and the Senate and keep Biden in office we might be able to get even more done over the next four years. If nothing else we need to keep Trump out of there. I'm hoping the election results are definitive enough to make Donald (or what's left of the Republican party) understand that he's a loser and needs to stop running. It's a shame the whole politics gig has been such a profitable grift for the guy.

I'm not saying you aren't wrong but it's an unfortunate fact that when it comes to politics and nation-building, doing something because it's the moral thing to do is almost always something that won't get done. Morality can be something that provides additional support for doing something, but it won't be the only or even the main reason it happens. There's also the problem that morals are relative to the norms of one's culture.

  7. I looked into that a while back for another comment and the wild thing is there are some US unions that liked the Tariffs as they help those US companies compete against Chinese companies. But in general they probably did do more harm than good.
