I remember how we kept being told over and over again about how al-Bashir was the problem in Sudan. So all kinds of people throughout the world marched and protested and called for peace. And after all that a new country was created in South Sudan, they got rid of al-Bashir, and in just a few years they're back to having two guys fighting over the country and making life impossible for everyone. What the hell, Sudan? It's almost like the leaders there don't really want peace in their country and enough of the population is willing to go along with the generals that the suffering is never going to end. The people of Sudan shouldn't expect the rest of the world to care more about peace in Sudan than their own leaders and soldiers.

@mightyone3737 So you are saying the people of Africa have no agency over their own lives? That they have no ability to stop accepting the foreign money from overseas and are always going to be victims of warlords and brutal European interventions? You're right - that does sound a bit insulting. I understand that you were calling me ignorant and at worst intensely evil, but I choose to not infantalize an entire continent of people. You see, I have studied about the horrors from European colonization and exploitation and I'm not denying that exploitation is ongoing. But I'm also aware that Africa is filled with proud and ancient cultures that have both wondrously magnificent and tragically brutal histories that stretch back long before any Europeans ever set foot there. And there are many examples of Africans, as well as other oppressed and exploited people around the world and throughout history, overthrowing their oppressors and stop being exploited. It would be a fantastic thing if the people of Sudan would make that happen too, but it's going to take the people of Sudan to make that happen.
