Those of us in the US with a conscience and who are honest about both our current events and our history are ashamed of the actions of many our leaders and citizens against many people in many nations. We don't approve of or agree with the trade wars that Trump has started and that his MAGA followers are cheering on. We think the way Trump and Vance treated President Zelenskyy was deplorable and totally shameful. And our leaders and fellow Americans were responsible for despicable and tragic events going back to before we were the US. We still hardly own the generational physical and cultural genocides we waged against the native peoples of our country and, that in some ways, are still happening. And we've been doing horrible things to all kinds of people here and abroad ever since. The problem is that even with those of us who do own the horrible things our leaders and fellow citizens have done and are doing, it doesn't really change anything. We can't deal with our conscience because we're in the minority and don't have any real political or societal power. All we can do is live with it.
