@Alec nolastname The fencing master is correct, i's not fencing. It's closer to kendo or stage-brawling, and there is probably a reason they didn't try to get recognized by the International Kendo Association as a new form of that martial tradition. I get that it's going to bring in more revenue for the Fencing association and might bring some people to the actual sport of fencing, but it's not any more a part of modern fencing then the people fighting the round at the Ren Fair and in the SCA (etc.). Still, it looks like damn good fun and anything that gets people out, active and playing together is generally a good thing in my book. But it's not fencing. Not unless you are using the word as referencing all forms of sword play or even any form of person to person combat. Even sparring is a form of fencing in that sense, but i guess what I should be saying is that it isn't Fencing with a capital F.
