I've had jobs where I had to keep my hair short or been told I would have to cut it when it was long if I wanted a job and I am a white guy. I get that it's not the same, but it's in part because of my own discriminatory experiences with letting my hair grow out that I have so much sympathy for what Black people go through with theirs.
