  1. Grew up in Santa Fe in the 70's and 80's then moved to Austin in the 90's and up to Colorado since then. I was thinking about retiring to Roswell or Las Cruces for the milder winters, but I'll probably stay up here if the summers do keep getting worse. I can always do the snow-bird thing after I retire - maybe sooner with the continued advances in telecommuting. I could move back to Texas now and keep my current job, but Austin is way too expensive these days and local property taxes helping make up for no State Income tax (along with higher sales tax) there jack-up the cost of housing and life in any place even halfway decent. I'm honestly surprised that as much as 80% of the state even has 100 MBPs internet service - that's pretty impressive for somewhere as rural and undeveloped as New Mexico.

  2. I've been coming to Colorado my whole life and finally moved here in '97. While many these things can be problems depending on where you are I still mostly love living in Colorado and don't want to live anywhere else. Mind you, I will be moving from Denver to (probably) Pueblo or Durango later this year as housing is more affordable there and I can keep working for my employer remotely. The main reason I'd leave is the winters. My dream is live here from around Easter to Thanksgiving and then snowbird it somewhere further south for the remaining winter months.
